Read MoreIf you’re considering a kitchen renovation, one of the biggest decisions you’ll need to make is choosing the right cabinetry. Ready-to-assemble (RTA) cabinets are a popular choice for homeowners for a variety of reasons. In this post, we’ll explore the benefits of RTA cabinets for your kitchen renovation.
Each year at The Cartage Flooring Store, we enjoy looking ahead at upcoming home trends, especially in the kitchen. We are going to round up the top 5 trends we are most excited about as we approach the New Year. Natural Elements- This trend has already shown up in a big way throughout 2021-22. We have a feeling it is not going anywhere in 2023. The overall aesthetic of using natural elements has considerably high appeal. Natural elements such as wood-toned cabinetry, mixed metal hardware, and marble countertops pair together to bring this trend to life. With more and more people working from home permanently, it’s no surprise the choice of a design that will deliver a calm atmosphere is the go-to trend. Cottage Style- Vintage and whimsical, this is a fun trend that has popped up everywhere in 2022 and is carrying over into 2023. Rustic wooden tables are taking the place of kitchen islands. Wallpapers filled with floral and other cozy patterns are showing up as well, adding a ton of visual interest to cottage-style kitchens. We are even seeing the return of the under-sink curtain, which adds a homey and nostalgic element to your space. Statement Hoods- Kitchen hoods is integral to any kitchen. While their functionality is crucial, they were once an element that melded into the background in the ways of visual interest. However, hoods are now having a moment and statement hoods are making a splash. Homeowners are choosing to ramp up the style with their hoods. Custom wooden hoods and large metal statement pieces are taking center stage and becoming the focal point of kitchens. In 2023 we will continue to see this trend show up in interesting ways. Color Everywhere- In the past year, blues and greens were the hero shades dominating the color trend. In the upcoming year, we may be seeing even more colors brightening up kitchens. We are seeing bold bright shades and even deep, dark moody kitchens, but we are for sure seeing popularity around monochromatic schemes. Sleek And Modern- Hidden pantries, integrated appliances, and sleek, clean countertops. The modern kitchen has been around for some time now but is leaning more towards the seamless and clean look for the New Year. It’s going to be more about the clean slate surface where paneling will be utilized to heighten the minimalistic nature of this trend. At Cartage Flooring Store, whether you are looking for a traditional style or an up-and-coming style, our design team is at the cutting edge of the trends, while keeping a pulse on the classics. Our designers are here to help you choose the design that will work best in your space, and help make your kitchen renovation dreams a reality.

Getting ready for your next kitchen or bathroom remodel? Amongst the many options to choose from, deciding which type of cabinetry can be a big choice to make.
Today on the blog we are giving the rundown on both options so you can make the best decision for your home project. First, understanding the difference between the two options is paramount in making the right decision.
Ready-to-assemble cabinets are just that…ready to assemble. They arrive at your home flat packed and will need to be fully constructed by yourself or an installer. With ready-to-assemble cabinets, there are definitely some benefits to help with planning your renovation.
Ready-to-assemble cabinets can be stored easily for future use if you are not ready to install them at the time of delivery. There is also a bit more flexibility with ready-to-assemble cabinets since each piece is to be constructed on-site.
If you are a DIY fan, then ready-to-assemble cabinets may just be the right choice for you. We do suggest researching assembly instructions to see if this is a project that you are ready to take on yourself! We have a large selection of ready-to-assemble cabinets
If you are looking for less of a project, then pre-assembled cabinets might be a better choice.
Pre-assembled cabinets will come fully constructed and ready to install into your project space. This is a major time-saver and will eliminate the need to have to build the cabinets from scratch.
Your designer will work with you to ensure you have exactly the right amount of cabinets that will plug in perfectly to your space and bathroom remodel. Keep in mind, if you are not ready to install at the time of delivery, these cabinets do arrive in much larger boxes and might be a bit more difficult to store in your home, depending on the size of your project.
With that being said, it is best to make sure you have plenty of hands-on decks to receive your cabinets since they are fully built and will be in a larger, heavier box.
Pre-assembled cabinets also have the option to be custom colored! There are over 1000 Sherwin Williams colors to choose from, and our design team will be sure to help you with the process of choosing a custom color for your project!
Whether you choose pre-assembled or ready-to-assemble, Cartage Flooring has you covered. We are here to give you the best possible price and selection to choose from for your next renovation project.

A kitchen renovation is a major undertaking that takes a lot of planning. Ensuring that you create a space that works harmoniously in your home is crucial when designing a kitchen. Mistakes are almost always unavoidable. However, there are some major mistakes that can derail a project, and be costly. We have 4 design mistakes you should avoid making during your kitchen renovation.
Not prioritizing storage. Storage is king, and paramount to ensuring your kitchen will work well. When designing a kitchen, it is crucial to not skimp on storage and utilize as much space as your home will allow. A kitchen lacking storage will become tricky to manage and you don’t want to worry about finding a spot for your most-used kitchen items. Don’t forget about vertical storage, either! Especially in smaller kitchens, making use of all space is going to be incredibly important to ensure all of your items are easily stored.
Forgetting about the work triangle. Flow and functionality are other vital factors to think about when designing a kitchen. Once disrupted, cooking and cleaning can become a hassle. Consider appliance placement, and how this flow will affect your basic kitchen functions. Your sink, stove, and refrigerator appliances should be free of obstruction and placed in such a way that allows free movement from each. Placing the three properly forms the kitchen triangle, which should never be dismissed.
A lack of counter space. Even if you think you don’t need that much counter space, remember how quickly our counters can become cluttered with other everyday items such as coffee makers, toasters, and other smaller appliances. How much prep space does that leave you for actually preparing your meals? Not taking this into consideration can leave you feeling cluttered and disorganized. If possible, try to allow for as much counter space as possible in the design of your kitchen. If an island is not an option, consider an additional corner of cabinets and counters to allow for more storage.
Not using an expert. Yes, you may know exactly what you want for your kitchen, from colors to hardware, and everything in between. But there are many details that can be quickly overlooked when not working with a designer that can cost you both time AND money. At Cartage Flooring, our design team is made up of industry experts who are passionate about making your design dreams a reality. No matter the size or budget of your kitchen, our design team is here to take it on and ensure that no detail is overlooked. Are white kitchens still on trend? Our answer is YES! If you are considering a kitchen renovation, first and foremost it’s important to note that you should always choose a design that makes you as the homeowner, happy! Although trends are ever-changing, we do not see white kitchens going anywhere, any time soon. Here’s why:
Having a white kitchen does not mean you can’t find other ways to incorporate color. A white kitchen is a perfect backdrop to mix it up when choosing other materials, such as paints, textiles, and hardware. Fun accessories pop even more when contrasted with all-white cabinets and counters.
If you are considering selling your home in the future, a white kitchen is an excellent choice. Certain trends won’t appeal to everyone, but a white kitchen is a blank canvas that will allow a potential homebuyer to envision how they would style the space.
White kitchens are light and airy, and will always give a sense of tranquility and calm. The kitchen is a gathering place and evoking a bright and airy vibe is sure to please you and your guest while spending time in the hub of the home.
At Cartage Flooring, we have a dedicated team of design professionals who can help you design the perfect all-white kitchen for your home. White Kitchens stand the test of time, fit in with multiple home aesthetics, and is a classic design choice that is not going anywhere anytime soon!
